If you are getting ready for the Vicroads test, you must have a deep understanding of the behaviour expected from you on the road. To help you prepare, here is a checklist on what you need to know before the test.
- Your Car Dashboard
Even before you can start the car, your instructor will want to know if you are familiar with the basic controls on the dashboard. This includes wipers, indicators, hazard lights, and even how to turn on the headlights. As you get ready for the Vicroads driving test, set aside some time to know what’s on your dashboard and how to use it.
- Starting and Stopping the Car
How you start your car tells a lot about your understanding of safe and legal driving behavior. For instance, starting a car without putting a seatbelt on is totally unacceptable and your instructor can fail you for this simple mistake. Learn to always start and stop a car according to the requirements on the handbook even when practicing. So that on the day of the test, it is normal for you.
- Changing Lanes
For many learners changing lanes on a busy road proves to be challenging. During your driving sessions, practice-changing lanes on both busy and quiet traffic. The more you do it, the easier it gets.
- Parallel Parking
99% of drivers admit to damaging another person’s car when parallel parking. This style of parking proves to be a challenge for many motorists. However, it is quite easy when you practice several times. During your free time, you should look for a quiet street and learn how to reverse park.
- Doing a Three-Point Turn
Learning how to do a three-point turn can help you get your way out of a tight spot. The good news is there are many places where you can perfect this skill. A good example is your driveway or a nearby car pack.
- Driving in Busy Traffic
During your Vicroads driving test, your instructor can direct you to enter a busy road. If you are not familiar with it, then it can be quite overwhelming for you. A couple of days earlier, you should practice driving on a busy road and see how you respond to pressure. You should also learn how to merge with other traffic.
- Driving on Curved Roads and Straight Lines
To learn how to drive straight, head to the freeway or highway. And if you live near the countryside or hilly areas, you can head out for a test drive during the weekends.
